Larry Ostema has a passion for helping companies maximize profit from green projects. With a unique background in clean technologies and distributed generation, Mr. Ostema advises clients in sustainable real estate development and financing, renewable energy projects and technologies and the coming carbon markets. Mr. Ostema heads the Green Initiatives Group at Horack Talley.
Mr. Ostema has over sixteen years of experience representing energy technology, high-tech, emerging growth and real estate entities in venture capital and project financing, fund formation, technology transfer, domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, management buyouts, finance and acquisitions/dispositions and securities offerings. His clients include energy technology companies focused on distributed generation and renewable energy project development, sustainable real estate development and investors, private equity funds, and developers of carbon credits under the Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism and voluntary emission reduction schemes.
Mr. Ostema most recently served as the General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer of a real estate investment company in Denver, Colorado, and as a Partner in the Business Transactions Group of the Denver office of Baker & Hostetler LLP.
Mr. Ostema was the first attorney in the Carolinas to become a LEED Accredited Professional, a designation awarded after training and certification in the technologies and concepts defined as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design by the U.S. Green Building Council.
