History
Clean Energy Center was founded by Rich Hamilton on Earth Day (April 22) 2008. Mountain Wind Energy LLC (MWE), Rich’s first wind energy company, began scouting Nevada’s abundant wind resource in 2006 and Rich independently secured developable land, bankable data, and wind models for several Northern Nevada sites. MWE and Oak Creek Energy Systems(OCES) of Escondido and Mojave California formed a partnership for Nevada Wind Development and Great Basin Wind LLC (GBW) was born. Clean Energy Center was established in response to Great Basin Wind’s need for an experienced technical team of wind resource monitoring, data collection, and assessment professionals.
In early 2009 Rich Hamilton, CEC’s President and Founder, made the decision to expand Clean Energy Center and share its expertise with other markets. Since that time Clean Energy Center has assembled a resource-rich team of skilled professionals who focus on wind resource assessment, clean energy integration, renewable energy policy advocacy, and renewable energy development. Through the end of 2009, we added solar electricity, solar domestic hot water and solar space heating systems to our wind-energy base. Through strategic collaborations with other wind industry professionals and renewable energy companies Clean Energy Center has become the go-to resource for renewable energy development of all scales in Northern Nevada. From working with Johnson Controls to receive ARRA Energy Efficiency Block Grants for our Northern Nevada Cities to installing the world’s first Climbable 80-meter (262 feet) Tilt-up Meteorological Tower, we are doing everything we can to push the topics of renewable energy and sustainable living in Reno, Lake Tahoe, and Northern Nevada.
