Craig Gammarino has worked in the energy and environment arenas since his first co-op job while attending Drexel University in 1974. His early mechanical and electrical design experience at SCS Engineers (Reston, VA) provided a foundation from which to evaluate various building systems and components for energy efficiency improvements in many commercial, institutional and light industrial facilities. In the early 1990's, he and his wife built their own off-grid home. He has helped to develop a number of Performance Contracts with two nationally recognized Energy Services Companies (ESCOs): Citizens Conservation Services (now with Ameresco) and Johnson Controls, and he helped to develop the facilities condition assessment program at UNC-Chapel Hill. More recently, with the NC State Energy Office, he helped to develop and manage the Operation and Maintenance Conservation Program within the State Facilities Utilities Savings Initiative to improve the energy efficiency of the more than 12,000 buildings owned by the State. He is a registered engineer and a LEED Accredited Professional, and he has been a Certified Energy Manager and a Certified Indoor Air Quality Professional.
